Always Test the Lines Before Replacing a Pool Liner

Grangeover

As part of our best practices, we always test the lines before replacing a pool liner. What was supposed to be a simple liner replacement evolved into a full renovation after discovering 40-year-old black poly lines failed. Finding the leak before we replaced the liner saved time and money.

During the pressure test, one of the pool lines failed. If we had simply replaced the liner as hired, it would be money wasted. Eventually, the leaky lines would have been discovered and the liner would have had to be replaced all over again. That’s why it is so important to always test the lines before replacing a pool liner. We also recommended they replace their pool stairs.

We discussed the pros and cons of repairs vs. full pool renovation and the customer decided to renovate. Luckily our smaller equipment allowed us access through their gate without taking down any fencing. Otherwise, the neighbor’s pool would have been at risk for damage.

The project progressed well until the homeowners decided to add more concrete. As a result of the additional concrete, we needed to remove the air conditioning unit to pour. We kept the A/C on for as long as possible before turning it off to complete the pour. It was back within a week so the young family wouldn’t suffer the heat of summer.

Sometime later the customer reported a crack in the concrete and shared photos of the issue. Without issue, we returned to remove a small 5×5 area and repair it. Not everything can go perfectly. But dealing with inevitable issues honorably and professionally separates us from other pool companies.
